Brass playing with a difference!
A new brass quintet based in Yorkshire performing music for all tastes!
We perform a wide and varied repertoire of music to cater for all musical tastes, much of it has been arranged exclusively for the group by our trombone player Tony Turner. From the classics such as Faure’s haunting Pavane to popular music from Michael Buble or the Beatles’ Penny Lane, film scores such as John Williams’ Harry Potter or Mission Impossible and Star Trek to jazz greats from Duke Ellington and modern classics from Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and George Gershwin we’ve got the whole range covered!
5 Star Brass is Richard Wood & Nigel Blenkiron on trumpets, cornet & flugelhorn, Geoff Bellamy on french horn, Tony Turner on trombone and Tony Cross on tuba.
“A varied and interesting programme made for a very enjoyable evening. The players shared their talents with great enthusiasm and were very professional in their approach.”
“At a Concert in Sewerby the audience were given an unforgettable evening of musical entertainment by 5 excellent brass musicians who combined to provide a most versatile programme of music for all tastes. The group are aptly named 5 Star Brass and indeed give a 5 star concert whenever they perform.”
“We missed Five Star Brass when they first played at Sewerby Methodist Chapel. Thank goodness we didn’t miss them this time. Five exceptionally talented musicians gave an appreciative audience a varied programme ranging from John Williams to Duke Ellington via Gershwin, Saint-Saëns and Pachelbel et al. We had virtuoso solo performances from all five members of the quintet.”
